about

An Education is a five-song, digital-only EP that marks Schrire’s first foray into pure singer-songwriter mode (although her previous three jazz releases certainly hinted at the shift in direction). After leaving New York (her home for 4 ish years) to move to London, she had a couple of months in Cape Town to recharge and collect her thoughts. During that time, she wrote the five songs fairly quickly, arranged specifically to be played with cellist Ariella Caira, and then helmed a single day-long recording session for them with Caira at Cape Town’s Digital Forest Studio.

The subjects of the songs are personal but the EP as a whole presents a lyrically cogent and musically intellectual and emotive collection of songs.
